Homes
Your properties — the persistent records projects, rooms, documents, and finances hang off.
What it is — your properties, at /app/homes. A home is the persistent record a property keeps for life: renovation projects come and go, but the home — its rooms, documents, and finances — stays.
How homes relate to everything else
- Every project belongs to a home.
- Rooms belong to the home (not the project), so they persist across projects.
- Finance records and documents can optionally be linked to a home.
Creating a home
Click + Add home and give it a name (required). Address and jurisdiction are optional — jurisdiction helps when local rules matter (permits, taxes).
Editing a home
Edit in place: click the name, address, or jurisdiction on a home’s card, type, and confirm. No separate edit screen.
Deleting a home
Click Delete on the home’s card. Before anything happens, RenovAI checks what the deletion would affect and shows you:
- If any projects still reference the home, deletion is blocked — delete those projects first.
- Otherwise, deleting is permanent and removes everything the home owns: its rooms along with their elements, selections, and materials, plus any home-scoped materials.
- Finance records and documents linked to the home are not deleted — they are kept and simply unlinked from the home.
The confirmation dialog lists these effects with exact counts, so you can see what you’re about to lose before you confirm.
