Inspiration & selections

Inspiration boards and material selections — from mood board to a buying decision.

What it is — from mood board to shopping decision: collect reference photos on the Inspiration tab, then compare real, buyable options and commit on the Selections tab. Everything is grounded in a room’s elements — no floating ideas.

Inspiration boards & assets

Upload

Drag photos (or PDFs) onto the drop zone on the Inspiration tab, or click to browse. Uploads go straight to private storage; images are optimized on the way up. With a board selected, new uploads land on that board.

Boards

Boards are named collections — “Bathroom mood board”. Create one with + New board, filter by clicking its chip, rename or delete from the chip row. Deleting a board keeps its photos — they’re just unpinned. Any photo on a board can be set as its cover.

Per-photo options

The menu on a photo lets you:

  • Assign to a board (or unpin).
  • Tag it — comma-separated tags (“modern, warm, tile”) shown on the card.
  • Set as board cover.
  • Link to an element — attach the photo to a real element of a room (a wall, a floor, a shower…).
  • Promote to a material candidate — see below.
  • Delete the photo.

Clicking a photo opens it full-size in a lightbox for browsing.

Promote to a selection

An inspiration photo becomes actionable by promoting it: link it to an element first (required — this is what grounds the idea in the actual home), then Promote to a Material candidate. That creates a candidate in the Selections tab, where it competes with other options.

Selections & candidates

A selection is one open decision on an element — “Floor tile” on the living-room floor — with candidates as the competing options. The Selections tab starts with a rollup: how many selections exist, how many are decided, and the committed spend across chosen candidates.

Create a selection

+ New selection — pick the element it grounds in and name the decision. You need at least one element (add them on Spaces & Tasks). Rename inline any time; deleting a selection archives its candidate materials with it.

Elements with a matching decision template also show suggested selections (“things people usually decide for a shower”) you can add with one click, plus soft nudges about ordering decisions sensibly and keeping finishes coherent. All advisory, all dismissible.

Add candidates

While a selection is open:

  • Scrape a URL — paste a product URL and RenovAI pulls the description, price and image into a candidate.
  • + Add manually — description, price, currency.
  • Promote from Inspiration — as above.

Each candidate card shows its image, price, and delivery info, with warnings in context: an over budget badge when the price exceeds the linked bundle’s budget, and a delivery-buffer badge when a delivery date is tight (or late) against the linked task’s planned start. Selections without a task or bundle to compare against just show price and delivery.

Choose, reopen, edit

  • Choose this on a candidate decides the selection — the winner is marked ✓ Chosen and the alternatives move to a collapsible archived list.
  • Reopen selection puts everything back in play if you change your mind.
  • Edit a candidate’s description, price or currency any time; Remove deletes it (removing the chosen one warns you to reopen first if you meant to pick a different option).
